I'm looking at software programs to create a product catalog. I am currently out sourcing and want to create one myself. I don't see any live help on the site to ask if there is a template in the software for catalogs? I hate to buy a new program to find out that the template is not available. Thank you!

Hi ladiwolf,

Print Shop is, basically, a desktop publishing application which is designed to create projects such as Banners, Booklets, Brochures, Business Forms, Business Cards, Calendars, CD & Media Labels, Certificates, Greeting Cards, Flyers, Invitations, Letterhead, Mailing Labels, Newsletters, Photo Greeting Cards, Postcards, Signs.

I have owned many desktop publishing applications over the years. And, I have never seen a catalog template in any of those applications (including Print Shop).

I suspect (but I'm only guessing here) that the reason why desktop publishing applications do not normally contain templates for catalogs is that catalog creation is a complicated process which would best be done with a software application that is specifically designed for catalog creation.

You won't find a catalogue template anywhere. Catalogues are typically several pages thick and you wouldn't want each page to have the exact same template for each page.

You can easily create a catalogue with any page layout program like PrintShop or PrintMaster using the newsletter template. Just add your pictures and text boxes and arrange the elements as suits your taste. The biggest problem will be file size. Several pages containing high resolution photos will generally end up getting corrupted during the save process no matter what program you use - even with MicroSoft Word.

Just restrict your files to a dozen pages. Name each file CataloguePartA, CataloguePartB, CataloguePartC, etc. Then when you are ready to print, print each file and collate the pages.
