The following information describes how to deal with the most common double-sided printing problems.

Configuring the Double-Sided Printing Wizard

The first time you attempt to print a double-sided project, the Double-Sided Printing Wizard prompt will appear.

NOTE: It is advisable to be logged onto the computer with an Adminstrator account before configuring the Double-Sided Printing Wizard. If the Double-Sided Printing Wizard is configured while you are logged onto the computer with a Limited User Account, the selected settings will not be saved. And, the next time you attempt to print a double-sided project, the Double-Sided Printing Wizard prompt will appear again.

To configure the Double-Sided Printing Wizard.

1. Open a Blank Pages project.
2. Select 'File' in the menu bar, then select 'Printing' and 'Double Sided Printing' in the menu that drops down. The Double-Sided Printing Wizard will open.
4. Click on the 'Next' button.
5. Place two blank 8.5" x 11" pieces of paper in the feed tray of the printer, then click on the 'Print Test #1' button.
6. Wait until both pages have completed printing, then click on the 'Next' button.
7. Without changing their order, pick up the two pages that printed.
8. Hold the two pages so that the print is face up and the arrow points to the top of the page.
9. Determine which picture matches the top page of the stack of paper from the previous step. Click this picture to select it.
10. Click on the 'Next' button.
11. Without changing the order, insert the two pages into the printer with the printing face up with the arrow pointing in the direction of the paper feed.
12. Click on the 'Print Test #2' button.
13. Wait until both pages have completed printing, then click on the 'Next' button.
14. Again, without changing the order, pick up the two pages.
15. Determine which picture matches what is visible on the top and bottom of the stack of paper from the previous step. Click this picture to select it.
16. Click on the 'Finish' button. The program should now be configured to properly print double-sided projects.

NOTE: The Double-Sided Printing Wizard setup will need to be repeated if the printer driver is updated or the printer is replaced.

Double-Sided Printing Wizard: No Matching Options

The Double-Sided Printing Wizard is used to configure the program to print double-sided projects. In some instances, the available options presented by the Wizard do not match what has been printed. The procedure that follows describes how to print a double-sided project without using the Double-Sided Printing Wizard to configure the program.

1. Launch the program and open a double-sided project to print.
2. Select 'File' in the menubar, then select 'Print' in the menu that drops down. The Print window will open.
3. Under the 'Print Range' heading, click in the box in front of 'Outside Only' to place a check mark in that box and to activate that option.
4. If there is a check mark in the box in front of either 'Double-Sided or 'Print Instruction Page' option, click in the boxes next to those options to remove the check marks.
5. Select 'Print' to print the outside of the project.
6. After the outside is printed, reinsert the printed sheet into the printer as needed to print the inside of the project. (The way the printer feeds paper to be printed will determine how the project sheet is inserted. So, you might need to experiment with the way you insert the paper back into the printer. Once you have figured out how to reinsert the paper, make a note for future reference.)
7. With the project open, select 'File' in the menubar, then select 'Print' in the menu that drops down. The Print window will open again.
8. Under the 'Print Range' heading, click in the box in front of 'Inside Only' to place a check mark in that box and to activate that option.
4. If there is a check mark in the box in front of either 'Double-Sided or 'Print Instruction Page' option, click in the boxes next to those options to remove the check marks.
5. Select 'Print' to print the inside of the project.

Double-Sided Project Prints Incorrectly

After completing the Double-Sided Printing Wizard and printing a double-sided project, the project prints incorrectly. This typically occurs when incorrect settings were selected during the setup procedure. To correct that problem, the first step would be to re-configure the Double-Sided Printing Wizard, as described above.

However, if the only problem is that the inside of the card was printed upside down, that would have to mean that the paper was inserted into the printer wrong end first before printing the inside of the card. To correct that problem, insert the other end of the paper before printing the inside of the card.
