I am trying to create a calendar for my family. I want to make one for my dad and sisters also. Some of the events will be the same but some will be different. How do I use different events in different calendars?

You will want to create individual groups as outlined here:

Once you have those categories of events, double click on any calendar where it shows the month and year. Click the Misc tab. Check the groups you do want and uncheck the ones you don't want when designing different calendars.
