hotemple -> left justification - too much blank space on the right (12/19/2005 7:25:42 AM)

I will be so grateful if someone can answer this question. When I "Publish to Web", my pages, which appear centered on the Print Shop pages, are automatically left-justifying, leaving a strange-looking blank strip on the right side of all pages. I found a strange comment on the Broderbund website saying that I should basically learn how to use code to fix this, but that seems counterintuitive (and somewhat fraudulent) to me, as I bought the program because it said beginners like me could publish professional-looking pages. Does anyone know how to override this problem, or is the product just defective? Thanks for any advice. Hollee Temple

When you start your webpage project, you have the option to choose the page width. Standard=640 pixels; Wide=800 pixels; Custom=user defined.

It sounds to me that you chose the 640 pixels.

One quick fix is to open your web project and for each page, select all and move everything over to the right, even going off the page. Then do a publish preview and see how that looks on your monitor. Obviously, your monitor is wider than 640 pixels. Anyone viewing your web page with a small monitor will have to scroll to the right to see the "new" width in its entirety.

Anyone who is serious about creating and maintaining a business website should invest in software for that specific application, like MS FrontPage or at the very least, learn enough HTML to exploit the limited capabilities of a desktop publishing program's web project.

Check this out:

"These web design tutorials were made for those of you who would like to learn how to make websites but after looking at the code of all those nice webpages on the net, thought "Whoa! this is too complicated". Well, despite looking complicated, html (the code which makes the web page ) is easy to learn. In fact it is easier to figure out then those web design editors which supposedly let you design webpages as you see it (called WYSIWYG: What You See Is What You Get). I don't think so. Unless you're familiar with at least some of the code for making web pages those editors are a real pain to use...."

Amen to that!
