Steve OFO -> Creating 3' x 5' signs. (4/6/2006 11:30:32 AM)

I have designed a layout for my sign maker but when I send him the file and he enlarges it to 3' x 5' it becomes pixilated. Is there any way to make a layout that he can use?
I am using Print Shop Pro Publisher version 20

For no noticeable pixelation, you need a image file of dimensions 10800x18000. (300dpi) That is 194,400,000 pixels or 194 megapixels. Frankly, I'm sure that creating a JPG or PDF of this size would crash my computer.

You need to create a file consisting of only vector graphics and text. These can be stretched to as many feet as desired, with no distortion.

Ask your sign maker what program he uses for creating large signs. Likely it is Adobe Illustrator or Corel Draw.

Unfortunately, I do not believe you can use PrintShop for making 3x5' signs unless
1. you use only vector graphics and text AND
2. you get your sign maker to install PrintShop on his computer.

If he has PS installed, he can open your sign project (filename.sig), created in the normal 8.5x11 size, and print it enlarged. There will be no distortion.

Otherwise, you will have to provide him with the various vector graphics (wmf, for example) and pay him to create your sign in Illustrator or Draw or whatever professional vector drawing program he uses.
