quinctilis -> TITLE and META Tag information for search engines (12/28/2006 8:46:11 PM)

Hello - I've recently made my first website with PrintMaster 1.7 and it is AWESOME! However, when I attempted to send it to several search engines, I learned that it is missing Title and META Tag information. I can add this information to the web page code, if I can access it. Without it, robot search engines cannot read my page.

Also, when I attempted to add a clock, counter, and other features offered by the web host I chose, I found that these features also require me to add information into the actual web page code.

How can this be done?

After you publish to folder (to generate the html files), open the index.html file with NotePad and add/edit your tags and additional html. Save the file and upload this updated file to your web server.

awesome - thanks, ellengard, very nice to hear from you!

here is another question: I am finding that even when I publish my files to the server, I still have to go in to their web management page and manually upload them from that end. This seems somehow redundant to me -- and because I've used very few standardized elements, is quite time-consuming to manually upload. Shouldn't publishing my files to the server suffice to get them up there? Or, what am I missing?

thanks!

Oh - and in regard to the previous issue, I guess I should ask, would I have to re-add these functions every time I change my files and re-publish them to the folder?

thanks, Lady!

I quite agree - uploading one file at a time is nuts. Ask for the FTP URL so that you can drag and drop entire folders or several files at once.

It often follows this structure:

ftp://username:password@servername

Yes, so keep a text file of the additional HTML so you can copy and paste it back into any new index.html file you generate. As far as I know, PM doesn't have the capability to add html fragments into the web project so until they build that function into the program, you will always have to add your own code to the program generated files
