patfitzgerald1 -> Print Shop 21 - font size changes (4/21/2007 2:16:03 PM)

Why does the program change font sizes when I save a document? I work on a newsletter, which means I open and close it several times as items come in. When I reopen the file, the first thing I have to do is reset all of the font sizes, so that I can see how much space I have left. Is there a way to prevent this?

Also, if I convert the document to a .pdf file is it editable?

Hi patfitzgerald1,

The only time the font size should change is when a document is opened at a different Paper Size than the Paper Size that was selected in Printing | Print Setup in the File menu when the document was first created.

So, for example, if you created a document with a Paper Size setting of 8 1/2" x 14", you will have to go into Printing | Print Setup in the File menu, select the printer you plan to use to print the project then change the Paper Size to 8 1/2" x 14". And, you should do this BEFORE you open the document again.

That is because Print Shop will open Print Shop documents either at the Paper Size that is selected in Printing | Print Setup in the File menu when the project is opened OR at the default Paper Size of 8 1/2" x 11" (depending upon the type of project that is opened). If printer and Paper Size settings are not changed in Printing | Print Setup in the File menu BEFORE opening a project, Print Shop will always open projects based on the Paper Size settings for the default printer.

So, if you plan to print to a printer that is not the default printer, it is especially important to go into Printing | Print Setup in the File menu and select the printer you plan to use to print the project, and select the Paper Size you want to use for that project, BEFORE opening the project.

As to your question about .pdf files being editable, the answer to that would be NO. When you convert a Print Shop project to .pdf, you will not be able to either open or edit that project in Print Shop.

Just to elaborate... PDFs are used for viewing and printing from another computer, using Adobe Reader. That is why you would take a PDF to a professional printer or upload a PDF to a website so that others could print your file.

Adobe Acrobat is about the only program that can open and edit a PDF that has text and separate image elements. However, if you are using the Broderbund PDF convertor, your entire document is rendered as one large image with no text so even Acrobat can't edit it. Any editing to such a file would be similar to photo-editing a digital photo.

patfitzgerald1 -> RE: Print Shop 21 - Printing Oversize Projects (4/23/2007 8:46:37 AM)

Okay that makes sense. But I have another question. When I looked through the help section, "Printing Oversize Projects," it tells me that I need to click on print and then to open "Output Size." However, when I click on print and it opens, there is no "Output Size" for me to open. Now what am I doing wrong?

I really appreciate your help on what I've posted. Thank you.

Click on Print from the Menu bar. A dialog box opens. There is a button with "Output Size" written on it. Click it. A new dialog box opens. Now you can increase the number of sheets you want the project to be printed onto, basically upping the scale of the project.
