NOTE: The information in this FAQ DOES NOT apply to Print Shop 2.0 or PrintMaster 2.0 or PrintMaster 2011. The most important thing to keep in mind when a printing problem occurs with a Broderbund program is that ALL print jobs in Broderbund programs are ALWAYS controlled by the printer driver for the printer that is selected in Print Setup. So, when you experience printing problems, the first best course of action would be to make sure your printer driver is up-to-date. To do so, visit the printer manufacturer's web site to download and install the correct and most current version of the printer driver for your Operating System. NOTE: The printer driver which is installed on your computer should be the most current driver for both your Operating System and the version of that Operating System - either 32-bit or 64-bit. If you do not know which Operating System you are using, or which version you are using, go to Control Panel, select System, then look for the name of the Operating System (i.e. Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, etc.). Then, look for something which says either '32-bit Operating System' or '64-bit Operating System'. If you don't find any mention of either 32-bit or 64-bit, that would indicate that your Operating System is a 32-bit Operating System. And, it is very important to keep in mind that the printer driver that is on the CD which is bundled with the printer is not always the most current printer driver. So, it's always a good idea to visit the printer manufacturer's web site on a regular basis to check for newer drivers. If you find that you are already using the correct and most current printer driver, it couldn't hurt to uninstall and reinstall the printer driver (on the offchance that the currently installed printer driver is corrupt in some way). If updating the printer driver does not solve the problem, the next best thing to do would be to perform a Disk Cleanup, as described below: 1. Go to 'My Computer' ('Computer' for Vista & Windows 7) 2. Right click on the C:\ drive, then select 'Properties' in the menu that drops down. 3. When the 'Properties' window opens, click on the 'Disk Cleanup' button, then follow through with the Disk Cleanup process. NOTE: When the Disk Cleanup window opens (with the list of items to be deleted), make sure that there are checkmarks next to 'Temporary Internet Files', 'Recycle Bin' and 'Temporary Files' before you click on OK. Or, your printer might not be completely compatible with your Operating System. The best way to determine whether or not your printer is completely compatible with your Operating System would be to contact the printer manufacturer's Technical Support. Even though most brands of printers are very compatible with Broderbund software, it has been known for some time that many HP printers are not completely compatible with Broderbund programs. And, printers which were released before WinVista was released are often not completely compatible with WinVista. So, since ALL print jobs in Broderbund programs are ALWAYS controlled by the printer driver for the printer that is selected in Print Setup, there is often no workable solution for printing problems when the selected printer is not completely compatible with either the Broderbund software or your Operating System. When that happens, the recommended solution would be to either use a different printer or to Print or Save the Broderbund project to PDF, as described in this Print Shop article Save as PDF vs File | Print to PDF
