CC 12 Deluxe is suppose to support multiple languages (Spanish, French, etc.) However, I cannot figure out how to print a calendar in Spanish. I can enter the events in Spanish but need the day cells (Monday (Lunes), Tuesday, (Martes) etc.) and Title (Month) to appear in spanish. Help!

Hi glhteach,

After doing a little research, I discovered that some U.S. versions of Calendar Creator Platinum (which includes both CC12 Deluxe and PrintMaster Greeting Cards) do say "Supports Multiple Languages: French, Spanish, Italian" on the front of the package.

But, I have also found that some U.S. versions of Calendar Creator Platinum do NOT say "Supports Multiple Languages: French, Spanish, Italian" on the front of the package. Instead, those packages say "Print Calendars in Multiple Sizes".

So, my guess at this time would be that even though you are able to enter the events in Spanish you will not be able to change the names of the day cells to Spanish - because Calendar Creator Platinum's ability to deal with multiple languages is VERY limited.

Hi again glhteach,

It has just occurred to me that there may be a way for you to create Spanish weekday names. HOWEVER, if it works, you will have to repeat the process in every month.

Since you said you can enter the events in Spanish, you should also be able to create a text box and enter the text in that box in Spanish. So, you should also be able to use the Add | Text option in Calendar Creator to create text boxes for each day of the week, then resize and move those text boxes over the English weekdays.

Thanks to all who replied! I bought my version from Amazon.com (nothingbutsoftware.com?). I believe it is a U.S. version. I will try the textbox tip (I can't believe I didn't think of that! :) ) but there should be an easier way. If the software is suppose to support multiple languages, I shouldn't have to change my Windows setting, there should be an option within the software. I have used CC for years but bought this version specifically for the Spanish functionality.

I forgot to add that there were no language options in the preference menu. I also checked the other menus for language but could find no mention of the subject.

Hi glhteach,

As I mentioned above, there is a very good chance that your Calendar Creator 12 is a U.S. version. But, as I also mentioned above, there's also a very good chance that the "Supports Multiple Languages: French, Spanish, Italian" comment on your Calendar Creator Platinum package is not quite accurate.

As to the issue of multiple-language support - especially in U.S.-made software applications such as Calendar Creator - that multiple-language support does not normally include the ability to convert all language in a project to a different language. And, that is most especially true for those items in a project which are not user-configurable - such as the weekday names that you would like to have in Spanish. So, for U.S.-made software applications, multiple-language support will normally include ONLY the ability to manually enter text in a language other than English.

Although they *might* actually exist, I am not currently aware of ANY U.S.-made software application which will allow the user to select a specific language option within the software. As far as I can tell, the only way to use a language other than English in a U.S.-made software application is to change the Windows Regional Settings.

Thanks, Brandy redux. But if the software does not actually support multiple languages, it shouldn't be listed on the package as such (leans towards false advertising.)

Additionally, I am looking for just basic functionality...spanish days of the week and months. I can enter whatever text I want for the events. As long as I am comfortable not using the spell checker, I can even use made-up words or numbers if I want. The very least the software can support is the day cells and month in multiple langages. If there are codes to change how the dates and times are shown, then there should be a code to change the day cells to Spanish.

By the way, I used the text box option listed above and it works for the short term.

Hi glhteach,

Software packages (from many different companies) will very often say the product supports something that it does not. And, this is normally a mistake that is made by the Marketing Department when the package is designed.

The codes which change how the dates and times are shown are taken from the Windows Regional Settings - NOT from within the program - because dates and times are not programmed by the software developers. However, since the day cells/weekdays contain text which is programmed by the software developers, that is an internal situation which cannot be controlled by Regional Settings.
