That's because you converted your project to PDF. The Broderbund PDF convertor does not recognize text. All the text and images are combined and rendered as one large image and what used to be text is now just very dark areas of the image.
Just print your project normally, not as a PDF. If you chose the pure black color from the color palette for your text, your desktop printer will know to use only the black ink.
If you need the PDF because you are taking it to a store to get professional printing, then you need to create a PDF with embedded fonts. This cannot be accomplished in Print Shop 22.
