Hi ABCruz,
There is currently no way to automatically check for updates for Hoyle Puzzle and Board Games 2009. And, that's mostly because updates are not regularly released for Hoyle Puzzle and Board Games 2009.
To manually check for updates for Hoyle Puzzle and Board Games 2009, do this:
1. Click on the 'Knowledgebase' link at the top of this forum
2. In 'Step 1: Select product', search for and then click on Hoyle Puzzle and Board Games 2009
3. Click on the 'Knowledge Base Articles' link for that product
You will see that there are currently no updates for Hoyle Puzzle and Board Games 2009.
As to how you would transport the update to your parent's computer, you would do so in the same manner you would transport any file - copy it to a CD, DVD, disk or other removable media. Since the update will be one single *.exe file, that should not be a problem.
