When you see that your name is blinking, you will also see that each line on the scorecard will have points listed. To finish your turn, you will want to click on the highest number of points in the list.
For example, if you see that you have 20 points on the 3 letter line, 40 points, on the 4 letter line, 50 points on the 5+ letters line, 15 points on the Straight line or 25 points on the Starter line, you will want to click on the 50 points on the 5+ letters line - because that's the highest number of points in the list. And, that's how many points you will be awarded for that turn.
You will, however, want to make sure to check the Yacht line - because, as far as I can tell, the number of points awarded for a Yacht is 75.
And, you will want to keep in mind that the points you click on will often show up later on scorecards at the end of later turns. And, those points will be listed in Bold. But, those points cannot be selected again. So, you will have to select a different high point setting that is not displayed in Bold.
