Brandy redux -> Error: 'for Hashing' error messages (12/24/2009 3:09:37 PM)

If you ever experience either of the following 'for hashing' error messages while attempting to install any Broderbund program
"Problem Finding Registry Keys for Hashing"
or
"Error Opening Write Access to One or More Configuration Files for Hashing"
the recommended solution is to perform the following steps:
A. Uninstall the Broderbund program, exactly as described in this FAQ
Uninstalling Software: Thoroughly & Safely
B. Go to Control Panel, then select 'Add or Remove Programs' for WinXP - or 'Programs and Features' for Vista or Windows 7.
If you find either Microsoft® .NET Framework 1.1 or Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 (hotfix) in the list of installed programs, uninstall both of those programs. DO NOT uninstall any other version of .NET Framework.

then download and install .NET Framework 1.1.
Click on this link
Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1
then download and install .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1.
D. Click on this link
*Computer Cleanup on WinXP, WinVista & Win7
then follow the steps in that FAQ for performing a computer cleanup.
E. Click on this link
'Clean' Install on Win98/Me/XP/2000/Vista/Win7
then follow the steps in that FAQ for performing a 'clean' re-install.
