An 'Assertion Failed' error message is often related to a problem with .NET Framework 1.1 - which is required to run Print Shop and several other Broderbund products. The recommended procedure for dealing with the "Assertion Failed" error message is to uninstall .NET Framework 1.1, perform a computer cleanup, then reinstall .NET Framework 1.1, exactly as described below Uninstall Microsoft® .NET Framework 1. Close all programs and windows and return to the desktop. 2. Click on 'Start', then click on 'Control Panel'. The Control Panel will open. 3. For WinXP, double-click 'Add/Remove Programs'. For Windows Vista or Windows 7, double-click 'Programs and Features'. The list of installed programs will open. 4. If Microsoft® .NET Framework 1.1 is in the list of installed programs, click on 'Microsoft® .NET Framework 1.1'. Select 'Uninstall'. 5. If Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 (hotfix) is also in the list of installed programs, click on 'Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 (hotfix)'. Select 'Uninstall'. NOTE: Since all Broderbund programs except Print Shop 2.0 and PrintMaster 2011 use only .NET Framework 1.1, no other version of .NET Framework should be uninstalled. 6. If asked whether to delete shared files, select 'No to All'. 7. After uninstallation is complete, close all open windows and return to the desktop. Microsoft® .NET Framework 1.1 is now removed from the system.
