Is it possible to import vector art from other applications, e.g., Adobe Illustrator, into the Print Shop 2.0?

Sorry but NO, Van,

Print Shop 2.0 is designed to import only the following image files - all of which are raster graphics

*.jpg
*.jpeg
*.gif
*.png
*.bmp

So, the best you could hope for would be to open your vector images in another program then Copy/Paste them into Print Shop 2.0.

I actually tried cutting and pasting from Illustrator, but it got me nowhere. What's the secret?

Hi Van,

Since my attempts to Copy from several programs (including Paint Shop Pro 3, Print Shop 23, MSWord, etc.) then paste into Print Shop 2.0 were all unsuccessful - because Print Shop 2.0 did not see that the image had been Copied - it looks to me like it might not be possible to Copy/Paster vector images into Print Shop 2.0.

I did find that it is possible to open *.wmf images in Print Shop 23 and other graphic programs, then export the *.wmf image as a *.jpg or in another raster format. However, when I imported the resulting image into Print Shop 2.0, I did see that it was a bit pixelated.

From Illustrator, scale your graphic to be 300 dpi at the desired print size. If there are transparent parts, save as PNG with transparency. Import the PNG to Print Master 2.0.

I appreciate all of your help, Brandy and ellengard.

I had heard that copying and pasting wmf files were a possibility, but I could never get that method to work. The solution would require converting the artwork to raster anyway, which I was trying to avoid.

While trying to find a solution yesterday, I decided to import a png with transparency when nothing else seemed to pan out. This appears to be the only way to import artwork created in Adobe Illustrator.

Again, thanks for all of your input! If you come up with anything else in the near future, please let me know!

Hi Van,

It's too bad that you aren't using Print Shop 23, which is a much more popular program than is Print Shop 2.0 - because I have just determined that it is quite easy to copy/paste a *.wmf image into Print Shop 23. And, it is also quite easy to import a *.wmf image into Print Shop 23.

As a matter of fact, Print Shop 23 can import all of the following graphic file formats:

*.BMP
*.CGM
*.DPP
*.GIF
*.JPEG
*.PCX
*.PNG
*.TIFF
*.WMF
Photo CD Files
Print Meta Objects
PhotoShop files

The reason why Print Shop 23 is more popular than Print Shop 2.0 is because Print Shop 2.0 is a completely redesigned and rewritten product which works in an entirely different manner than the earlier versions of Print Shop, which have been around for more than a decade.

And, there is another downside to using Print Shop 2.0. If you will click on the link below

you will see that PS2.0 cannot always maintain the quality of photo images.

If you purchased Print Shop 2.0 within the last 90 days from a retail store or within the last 30 days from broderbund.com, you are eligible for a refund. Please click on the link below

And, you might want to note that Print Shop 23, which can still be purchased from here

http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_noss?url=search-alias%3Dsoftware&field-keywords=Print+Shop+23&x=13&y=15

and Print Shop 23.1, which can be purchased from here

http://www.broderbund.com/search.aspx?SearchTerm=Print+Shop

can both be successfully installed on even a 64-bit version of Windows 7, as is described here

Thanks for the advice! I'd switch, but I'm on a mission with The Print Shop 2.0.
