I have just bought Printmaster 2012 Platinum which says it is compatable with Mac, but it will not download from the disk. I have downloaded the Lion application & still I get the Error updating the printmaster database & cannot continue. I have tried several times & it stops at the same place each time. Can you help me with this please?

Unfortunately, PrintMaster 2012 cannot be installed on OS X Lion without the patch. To access the patch for PrintMaster Platinum 2012, please click on the link below

I have downloaded the patch twice now & it has made no difference at all, I get the same message I am afraid, I have done what the support told me but still no joy.

If you have done what support advised you to do, I'm afraid that I won't be able to provide any additional assistance - because, since those of us who help on these forums are volunteers only and we are neither employed by nor connected with either Customer Service or Technical Support, we do not have access to technical documents about the software - other than the Technical Notes which are posted on the Support site here

So, I would advise you to reply to the email you received from Technical Support, then tell them that what they advised you to do didn't work. Please do keep in mind that, even though you might have waited a very long time for Technical Support to contact you the first time, if you reply to the email that Technical Support sent you with their first advice, Technical Support should reply to you much more quickly the second time around.

If you would prefer to not contact Technical Support again, Please do keep in mind that if you purchased PrintMaster 2012 from a retail store within the last 90 days or from either broderbund.com, encore.com or hoylegaming.com within the last 30 days, you are eligible for a refund - even after the product has been installed.

Hi again worried,

After I posted the reply above, I decided to search the forums to see if I could find anything which would help to solve your problem.

And, I did discover two VERY IMPORTANT points:

1. Full 'Admin' Privileges are required to properly install PrintMaster

2. Full 'Admin' Privileges are required to properly use PrintMaster

To ensure that your user account has Full 'Admin' privileges, please click on the Apple in the upper left hand corner of the menu bar, then select 'System Preferences'. Under 'System', select 'Accounts'. When the window opens, look for your user name on the left side of the window.

If you do not see 'Admin' under your user name, you will very likely not be able to solve your problem until you are able to log onto the computer with an Admin account.

Thank you for trying to help, I have sent an email to them but they have yet to reply, the things that I did I got from the technical site & yes I did check that I am the administrator so that is all Ok. Do you think I need to remove the whole program from my computer then download the Lion update & see if it will work. Do the tech people usually reply at some stage? I am keen to use this program & would like to get it working.

Hi Ann,

As to where you said this:

The most important point to keep in mind is that, without the patch, PrintMaster Platinum 2012 cannot be successfully installed on any Mac computer that is running OS X Lion - because, without the patch, PrintMaster 2012 is not compatible with OS X Lion. So, the problem cannot be fixed by downloading the Lion update. As a matter of fact, downloading the Lion update might just complicate matters.

If I were you, I would do this:

1. Send PrintMaster Platinum and all related files and folders to the Trash - including the patch that you said you had downloaded twice.

2. Empty the trash.

3. Click on the link below

then follow the directions - exactly as described:

1. Put the PrintMaster 2012 Install disk into the disk drive then continue with step # 2 below.

2. Navigate to: http://go.encoreusa.com/765 and follow the prompts to save the file to your computer.

3. Unzip the PM 2012-Lion update file once you have completed the download.

4. After the file is unzipped, double-click the Lion update file.

5. Complete the installation for PrintMaster 2012 Platinum.

As to where you said this:

The only time that Technical Support can accept direct emails is as a reply to an email which is sent to the customer by either Customer Service or Technical Support. All other direct emails are automatically deleted by the system.

The only acceptable method for contacting either Customer Service or Technical Support is explained in this FAQ

So, if you did, actually, attempt to contact Technical Support by direct email, you will never receive a reply. However, if you did submit an Online Support Request, it is very important to keep in mind that Online Support Requests which are submitted to Technical Support are ALWAYS answered in the order they are received. However, since Technical Support often experiences a backlog, you might not receive an answer for as much as a week or more. Please DO NOT submit a 2nd or 3rd question - because this only increases the backlog.

If my suggestion above does not help to solve your problem, I'm afraid that you have only 2 options:

1. Wait for Technical Support to reply.

2. Request a Refund - if you purchased PrintMaster 2012 from a retail store within the last 90 days or from either broderbund.com, encore.com or hoylegaming.com within the last 30 days.

Thank you so much for your help, I finally got there today. I did hear back from Technical help but they just instructed me to make sure I had read & write permission to open file which I did have but I think it was deleting everything & starting again that finally worked as you told me in your last note, so thank you again now all i have to do is find out how it all works.
