dreppas -> Daily View of Multiple Events (10/22/2012 10:24:50 AM)

For the last 20 years, we have been sucessfully using v1.0 to schedule recurring events and print a daily view of events using the "Text - 1 day" view. However, V1 will not run in Windows 7 so we upgraded to V12 only to find out that the "Text" view has been removed.

In our case, we have up to 20 events scheduled on a particular day and none of them use time. When I go to the "Day" view, they all buch up horizontally at the top of the page and are very truncated so you can't read the full event. If you open a split screen so that the events are shown at the bottom of the screen, you can print the event list for the day but it also is truncated and does not show the notes.

Also, possibly due to the number of events we have scheduled (approximately 140) clicking on events often brings up the screen "Calendar Creator 12 Has Stopped Working". I have followed the instruction in the other post about doing a clean install but to no avail.

Is there any was to get a simple liste of events (including notes) for just one day that can be printed?

Thanks.

Hi dreppas,

The first problem you will need to deal with is that the recommended solution for the "Calendar Creator 12 Has Stopped Working" error message requires more than a 'clean' install. Instead, you will need to click on the link below

http://forums.encoreusa.com/tm.asp?m=41214&mpage=1&key=

then follow the directions in that FAQ for performing a 1) thorough uninstall, 2) computer cleanup and 3) 'clean' reinstall.

As to where you said this:

"Is there any was to get a simple liste of events (including notes) for just one day that can be printed?"

Since the newer versions of Calendar Creator do not offer the Text Views that are offered by the earlier versions of Calendar Creator, in order for a simple list of events to be printed on a day view, each of those events must be entered into a different line on the Day view. Since the events in your sample are bunched up horizontally at the top of the page, that would indicate that when the events were originally created in v1.0, it was not necessary to enter the events in a different line.

So, if I were you, the first thing I would do is to perform the 1) thorough uninstall, 2) computer cleanup and 3) 'clean' reinstall recommended above.

Then, when it is possible to successfully view the Events by clicking on the 'Show Events List' option, I would re-enter each of the events on a different line on the Day View.

Thanks for the quick response. I went through all the reinstall steps including running CC Cleaner and the program seems stable now.

As far as entering events on a different line, I assume you mean I will need to assign a time to each of them? Currently, all events have "Do Not Use Time" checked. I tried entering events by clicking on sperate lines and the event box appeared with a start time of the time slot I clicked. When I checked "Do Not Use Time" the event appeared at the top of the screen.

Is there no way to create a custom view that removes the time grid and allows the events to show up consecutively and vertically without assigning a start and end time?

Thanks.

Sorry but NO dreppas,

Calendar Creator 12 does not offer any option for removing the time grid and allowing the events to show up consecutively and vertically without assigning a start and end time?

Even though Calendar Creator does offer an 'Event Report' option, that option requires Events to be printed by month instead of by day.

It is possible, however, to select different options for the time grid by doing this:

1. Right click on the time grid, then select 'Properties' from the menu that drops down

2. When the 'Properties' window opens, click on either the 'Miscellaneous' tab or the 'Week/Day' Properties tab, then select different options on those tabs.

Hi again dreppas,

There is one thing that you can do to cover the time grid.

1. Click on 'View' in the menu bar, then select the 'Zoom' and 'View Height' options in the menus that drop down.

2. Click on 'Add' in the menu bar then select 'Rectangle' in the menu that drops down.

3. Click and drag to create a white rectangle over the time grid.

Even though the events will still be assigned to specific times, those times will not print.
