stephieann20 -> Designing with True Black instead of 4 color black (12/10/2012 9:33:31 AM)

I have Printshop version 21 that I use to create advertising flyers, coupons,...etc. I usually have to send them out to be printed and am being told I need to use true black instead of 4 color black. How do I do that in Printshop? I tried exporting into a PDF but they said that isn't working either....any help would be great!

I am assuming that you are referring to true black TEXT.

Unfortunately there are two things preventing true black if you use PS20. There is no CMYK option and there is no way to embed fonts in your PDF because PS20 isn't compatible with PDF writers that normally do embed fonts.

Short of buying a desktop program that supports CMYK and font embedding (which costs considerable more than PS21), here is a possible solution, but it depends on how accommodating the professional printer is.

Create a copy of your project. Copy/paste all the text into a Word doc or Note pad file. Remove all text boxes from your project. Export the project as highest resolution JPG.

Provide the printer with the JPG and the text which he can use to put together the final print file for you, based on the design you provided earlier.

If you have a program that creates files that can be converted to PDF with embedded fonts, I can give you another simpler alternative.
