3.5 text box is tough for me . I'm use to 23.1 where a text box wording is entered by double click inside the box. In 3.5 the + is used to locate the text box and you get a weak box with a blinking cursor but alignment doesn't seem to work. What am I doing wrong?

I'm not having any such problems. Draw the text box and immediately start typing. No double-clicking required. Double-click inside the text box when you want to select AND edit it.
