rigel616 -> new printer, PS won't print (1/27/2017 1:28:44 AM)

I have Print Shop Premier Edition 5.0 (1997) and have never had a printing problem. I just got HP Envy 4520 printer and now I can't print a PS doc. Asks if OK to reformat to printer, selected yes, then I get a general printing error. Per msg. instruction, I restarted computer, uninstalled then reinstalled PS, then even saved doc as a PDF and it still won't print. Correct printer is selected in printer options. I don't know what else to try. I know the program is old but it worked on my Brother printer without a problem. Where do I go next?

If your printer won't print a PDF, will it print anything? Try printing from NotePad or MS Paint or from any other programs you have. I'm really surprised a PDF won't print. This may be an incompatibility issue. New printer won't work with old computer.

What OS are you using? If, for example it's Win XP, then you need to install the Win XP compatible drivers for your HP printer, if that even exists.

ellengard - Thanks for the reply. I use Vista and Print Shop docs/pdfs are the only ones that won't print. I can print everything else.

HP Envy 4520 is a relatively new printer, I have that particular printer myself. It is compatible with Windows 10 as it was designed for Windows 7 and up. I don't believe it is compatible with Windows XP. That program is an old program so if you're running 5.0 on a newer operating system,. chances are you will run into compatibility issues ,even after installing the new printer.

Going into the Devices / Printers and removing the instance of the old printer will help many in that situation. Just because a printer is removed does not mean the corresponding driver is still installed.
