mike2874 -> Using Platinum 11 alongside V8? (11/25/2017 1:17:35 PM)

I just purchased V8 for my wife for Xmas she’s been using PrintMaster 11 Platium which is still installed on our pc. Have a few questions:

1. Can V8 be installed alongside our Patinum 11 or should it be uninstalled first?

2. Can Projects from PrintMaster 11 be imported into V8? If so how do I go about doing that?

These two programs only share the name Printmaster. Each was developed independent from the other. They can run alongside each other just fine. They are not compatible with each other. Projects created in one cannot be opened in the other.

Thanks for responding ellengard!

So there's no way to convert my PrintMaster 11 format into V8 format and then import?

If your old PrintMaster can export as JPG, You can import those JPG images into PrintMaster v8, but not the files from v11.

Your converted JPG images are permanent so make sure that you have the design you want and remove any items you don't.

Guess I have another question my wife who is the one who actually uses Printmaster says she can't figure out how to import things. Normally programs give you that option under "File" but it's nowhere to be found. Can someone explain?

This program does not import any files. No projects made in any other program can be imported. You can only add graphics such as JPG and PNG into a new or ready-made project. As suggested by Jason, your wife can create a JPG in the old program. The JPG can be added to a project in the new program. Treat the JPG like you would a photo.

Sorry guess I'm not explaining the issue very well. I do understand you must convert graphics into JPG before using with PrintMaster 8.

The problem my wife is having is v8 is just enough different from v11 that she can't figure out the steps to import graphics. She says the same exact procedure/steps in 11 isn't available in v8. Could someone provide the steps?

V8 is a completely different new program. As such, it is essential to learn it using the Printmaster v8 user guide which is relevant to it. PMv11 is not only irrelevant to learning v8, it is a hinderance. Completely different interface.

Use the Add Photo button to add any JPG.

To add Printmaster art from the Clipart Gallery, click the Clipart button. This also brings you to the option to add other art you have stored on your computer by clicking Browse other...

If your wife wants to mass import graphics from the old program's Art Gallery, into the new program's Art Gallery, that is not possible, except by individually saving each graphic as JPG. Then add a desired JPG to a project as needed.

It's important to know that many of your program functions are divided into categories as shown here.

So depending on the editing feature you want, you'll have to click on the respective categories to open the toolbox for those editing features.
