I just bought Print Shop Pro 6.0. The first time I opened it, it seemed okay. But the next morning, the program took almost 3 minutes to load. When it finally did load, the performance was glacial. I read the FAQ about slow performance. My computer exceeds the minimum requirements for the program to run. I have a core I5 with 9 GB of RAM, Nvidea card, 2 - 512 GB SSDs. I cleared the cache as suggested, but the program still takes a long time to respond, and in some cases it doesn't seem to respond at all. Nothing so far seems to have worked. I wrote to support@encore.com, but so far no reply.

When I pay $163.00 for this program, I expect it to work right out of the box. I can load MS Office with no problem. I can load other graphics programs without a hitch. So why can't this program run as fast as the big boys do?

I would love to hear any suggestions. I wrote to support, and told them I want a refund, but if I can get the program to run right, I'll forgo that idea. I just want it to work. I mean, I loaded Photoshop on a computer I had in the 1990's, and it loaded faster, and performed better than Print Shop on my current computer.

On my computer, which is older (Win 7) and has less RAM, it took 1 minute 22 seconds for this program to load. 11 seconds for one of the ready-made newsletter projects to download. I can edit it with no time lag.

So the program taking so long for you is not normal. Perhaps the installation is corrupted. I don't know if this is still a thing, but an anti-virus program can interfere with the installation process. You could try disabling your anti-virus just for the duration of the installation of the program.

Mark this post as solved. You nailed it. It was the AV program. I was able to load the program in the time I expected, and then I could do some work with it. Many Many thanks. I greatly appreciate your help.

You're very welcome. I'm not a "techie" so I'm really glad I had the right info, from my own experience. If you have any questions about how to use the features in this program, please post in this forum. Print Shop is one of my tools (along with Office and Photoshop) that I use for desktop publishing.
