bcdobbs -> Application Load Time (7/21/2005 8:39:11 PM)
I upgraded my system from Windows ME to Windows XP Home a couple of months ago. Since them the Hoyle games take several minutes to launch instead of a few seconds like they use to. Anyone have any idea what is going on?

Try restarting your computer and disabling your virus scanner and closing all other running programs on your computer. Then try using the program. Generally this helps speed up programs that are running poorly. Give it a try.

Turned off my virus software and the program launched immediately. Since I did not want to try to remember to restart the virus software each time, I checked with my software vendor and found out I could put in an exception for the Hoyle games so they would not be scanned, and now everything is okay. Thanks a lot.

Awesome! I'm glad to hear you found the program that was conflicting and slowing things down. That's great that you added it to the exclusion list. [:D] Those virus scanners cause this problem often for MANY programs.
