Midge -> Keep track of a person's age or a couple's years of marriage (10/10/2005 9:03:38 PM)

I recently got to thinking that since Calendar Creator has such a steep learning curve there might be lots of Calendar Creator users out there who don't know that you can set up events to do things like keep track of a person's age and keep track of how many years a couple has been married.
For example, you could set up an event that automatically prints something like, "John Smith's 24th Birthday" or "'John and Jane Smith's 3rd Anniversary (Crystal)".
It is the text FUNCTIONS built into Calendar Creator that allow this to happen.
Text functions can be set up to:
Show Anniversary Number and Gift (i.e. John and Jane Smith's 3rd Anniversary (Crystal))
Count Birthdays for people who are no longer living (i.e. Jane Doe's 88th Birth Anniversary)
Count Birthdays for people who are living (i.e. John Smith's 24th Birthday)
Count occurrences of repeating events (i.e 10th Annual Reunion)
Count days from the start date of an event
Count days until the end date of an event (i.e. 36 days 'til Christmas)
Count weeks from the starting date of an event
Count weeks until the ending date of an event
Display the number of the day of the year
Display the number of the days left in the year
Display the appropriate sign of the zodiac for the date of the event occurrence.
And, those are only the COUNT text Functions. There are also DATE (i.e. system date, date range, etc.), OTHER (i.e. page number, remarks) and HEBREW (i.e. Hebrew birthday, Hebrew Anniversary of Death, etc.) text functions that can be selected on the Functions window.
To apply a text function to a specific Event, just double click on the Event. When the Modify Event window opens, click on the Functions button. When the Functions window opens, click on a Function in the right window, read the tips about the function at the bottom of the window (especially the tips about Start Date and End Date and Repeat schedule), then click on the Paste Function button to paste the event into the text box on the left side of the window. Click on OK until you are back at the calendar. If you don't like the way the text in the event is displayed, just double click on the event to edit the text. But, you'll want to be sure to NOT edit that portion of the text directly after the & (i.e &anniv); because, if you edit that text the text Function will not work correctly.
