Parduff -> Multiple Events Lists (10/15/2005 1:59:39 PM)

I recently upgraded from Calendar Creator V4 to 2005 Deluxe. I was able to use multiple event lists in the my calendar on each of the versions I had prior to this new version. Is this function still available on version 2005? I have separate event lists for birthdays, anniversaries, etc. and would like to continue using them. Does anyone know how this is done in the new version?

Thanks
Paul

Hi Parduff,

With the newer versions of Calendar Creator, all events are automatically combined into one single Events list; so, it is not possible to use multiple Events lists. And, it is not possible to save the Events lists separate from the actual calendar file, as it is with the earlier versions of Calendar Creator. Instead, all events are saved in one *.bcc file when you save the Collection.

You can, though, control which Categories from the Events list will appear in the open calendar Collection. To do so, click on Events in the menubar then select Categories from the menu that drops down. When the Categories window opens, click in the boxes next to the Categories that you DO NOT want to appear in the open calendar Collection. When you see that the checkmarks have been removed from those boxes, click on OK to return to the workspace.

There is one upside to all events being in a single Events list. If you would like to use the Events list from one calendar in another calendar, you could use the Import - Events option in the File menu to import the *.bcc file into the calendar. When you do this, only the Events, and NOT the calendar layout, are imported into the new calendar.

If you are committed to using multiple Events lists, you could create one Collection that contains only Birthdays, then save that Collection as a Birthdays.bcc file. Then, you could create another Collection that contains only Anniversaries and save the Anniversaries in an Anniversaries.bcc file. Then, you could repeat the process with other categories. Then, you could individually import the events from the various *.bcc files into one calendar. The downside, though, would be that all events would then be combined into one Events list and any changes made in that calendar Collection could not be reflected or saved in the original *.bcc files.
