Solution

Disabling any extra extensions during the installation will help minimize the chance of a conflict between an application and an extension. Perform the following procedure to do this.

1. Close any open programs or windows and return to the desktop.
2. Click the Apple menu, choose Control Panels, and then choose Extensions Manager.
3. Click the Duplicate Set button.
4. Type Adventure Workshop Extensions in the New Duplicate Set field and click OK.

    Disable Extra Extensions Below System 7.5x

    Performing the following procedure will disable extra extensions in earlier versions of the Macintosh® OS.

    1. Close any open windows or programs and return to the desktop.
    2. Double-click the Hard drive and then double-click the System folder.
    3. Locate the Extensions (disabled) folder. If that folder does not exist, perform the following:
      a. Click the File menu and choose New Folder.
      b. Type Extensions (disabled) as the name of this new folder and press the Enter key.
    4. Double-click the Extensions and Extensions (disabled) folders to open them. Adjust these windows so the contents of both can be seen at the same time.
    5. Click and drag any extension from Extensions to Extensions (disabled) except for the following:
      * Apple CD-ROM
      * Apple Multimedia Tuner
      * Foreign File Access
      * QuickTime
      * QuickTime Power Plug
      * Software for the installed folder
      * Print Monitor
      * Sound Manager
    6. Close the Extensions and Extensions (disabled) folders. The System folder should now be visible.
    7. Locate the Control Panels (disabled) folder. If that folder does not exist, perform the following:
      a. Click the File menu and choose New Folder.
      b. Type Control Panels (disabled) as the name of this new folder and press the Enter key.
    8. Double-click the Control Panels and Control Panels (disabled) folders. Adjust these windows so the contents of both can be seen at the same time.
    9. Click and drag any control panel from Control Panels to Control Panels (disabled) except for the following:
      * Apple Menu Options
      * Date and Time
      * Desktop Patterns
      * General Controls
      * Memory
      * Mouse
    10. When this is done, click the Special menu and choose Restart. The computer will now restart with the extra extensions disabled.
