32-bit version of Windows 7: When a ‘clean’ install is done of PrintMaster 8, exactly as described in this FAQ 'Clean' Install on Win98/Me/XP/2000/Vista/Win7 PrintMaster 8 should install quite easily on a 32-bit version of Windows 7. When you are asked if you want to install DirectX, you should say NO - because the version of DirectX that is installed with PrintMaster 8 is older than the version of DirectX which is already installed on your computer. It is not possible to register PrintMaster 8 - because 1) PrintMaster 8 is several years old and 2) the 'free offer' was discontinued many years ago. NOTE: #1 Even though PrintMaster 8 will successfully install on a 32-bit version of Windows 7, there is no guarantee that PrintMaster 8 will be completely compatible with Windows 7 - because PrintMaster 8 was originally designed for only these Operating Systems Windows 95 / 98 / Me NOTE: #2 The PrintMaster hub: When PrintMaster 8 is first started, the PrintMaster hub will be displayed - with 4 buttons in the 'Open' section. 1. The 'Art Gallery' button will work correctly. 2. The 'Address Book' button will work correctly. 3. The 'Internet' button will take you to the web site for PrintMaster 2.0 & PrintMaster 2011 here PrintMaster 2011 Platinum It should be noted that the PrintMaster 2.0 & 2011 templates which are offered for sale on that web site will not work with PrintMaster 8.0. 4. The 'Art & More Store' button will appear to work correctly. But, it won't take you anywhere - because the Art & More Store was closed several years ago. Serif DrawPlus 3.0, which is automatically installed with PrintMaster 8, appears to work quite well on a 32-bit version of Windows 7. 64-bit version of Windows 7: It is not possible to install PrintMaster 8 on a 64-bit version of Windows 7 - because any attempt to do so will result in this error message being displayed. What that message means is that PrintMaster 8.0's setup.exe file contains 16-bit programming code. Since 64-bit Operating Systems cannot handle 16-bit programming code, it will not be possible to install PrintMaster 8.0 on any 64-bit Operating System.
