I have a high end lable program (Label Gallery) that we use at work of creating UPC case labels for our cheese products. Since I installed Print Shop 22 on my computer all the labels that were created in Label Gallery now say in the folder under Type that they are Print Shop 22 files and want to be opened by Print Shop. They also show a Print shop icon one each of them. How do I rescue all of these files this is a big mess for me HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hi Dan,

Since the file association for the Label Gallery files was changed to Print Shop 22, that would indicate that the file extensions for Label Gallery files are the same as the file extensions for Print Shop 22 files.

You could change the association of those Label Gallery files back to Label Gallery by following the steps below. But, if the file extensions for the Print Shop 22 files are the same as the file extensions for the Label Gallery files, all Print Shop 22 files will be set to open in Label Gallery.

There is, however, one important point that needs to be made. File associations apply only when files are opened by double-clicking on them. File associations mean nothing when files are opened in the recommended manner - by opening the application then using the File | Open option (or whatever other option is available for opening files) to open the files from within the program.

So, if Label Gallery file extensions are the same as Print Shop 22 file extensions, the best course of action would be to always open those files from within the program - instead of double-clicking on those files. However, if you want to change the association of those files to Label Gallery, you would do so as described below.

1. Right click on one of those Label Gallery files.

2. When the menu drops down, hover your mouse over 'Open With'

3. When the Open With menu drops down, select 'Choose Default Program'.

4. When the Open With window opens, select Label Gallery - if it is in the list of Recommended Programs.

5. If Label Gallery is not in the list of Recommended Programs, click on the down arrow next to 'Other Programs'.

6. If Label Gallery is not in the list of Other Programs, click on the Browse button, then find and select the *.exe file for Label Gallery.

7. Click on OK.

If Label Gallery creates files with more than one file extension, you will need to repeat these steps for each file extension.
