I had an older version of Calendar Creator (diskettes) with Windows 7 had to upgrade. I am trying to add a banner event that starts on Thursday through Wednesday that repeats every two weeks. I need to shade the event. I can't seem to find how to make an event multiple days. The end date is grayed out. When I go to advanced options to repeat the banner is not there, the shading is not there and it only appears on the first day. I tried importing from my old version and that didn't help either.

Thanks.

Hello, jsoileau,

You didn't say which version of Calendar Creator you now have, so I'm going to guess you have a current one, version 12.

I don't believe you're going to be able to do exactly what you'd like, that is, a multi-day banner event that repeats. What you can do, however, is create single-day events for Wednesday through Thursday, and make each of those a repeating event.

Although you will have events with banner as a style, they will not be contiguous on the calendar layout the way a single multi-day banner event would be. The vertical position in each cell may vary depending on other events that are in that day.

Create your first Thursday event, and look at the Properties by right-clicking the event. At the lower right, you'll see "Repeat Rule." Change the drop-down selection to "Every Week." At this point, the Repeat Until box and radio button will no longer be grayed out, and you can enter the end date.

To get the shading, you'll see to the left of the repeat area, the Event Effects. There you can select banner event, and you can select shading for the event. You'll see a drop-down shade color where you can select from the available choices, or select Custom and create your own choice. Next, it's important that you have the first shading box changed from "None: to "#1," the selection you've made in the shade color window box.

This should give you one repeating event with the shaded color. You'll now want to create similar events for days through Wednesday. One way of doing this is to right-click the Thursday event, and select Copy. Go to the cell for the next day (Friday), right-click, and choose Paste. Repeat this by pasting (you don't have to re-copy) in every cell through Wednesday. You'll have to go into each new event and re-create the repeat rule by selecting it to repeat every week, and adding the end date.

I hope this will help accomplish some of what you'd like to do.
