I have Print Shop 3.5 and I want to print out CD/DVD Labels. The PS 3.5 CD/DVD Labels templates say to use Avery paper stock 8965, but when I bought this paper stock and tried to print my labels, they did not align with the PS 3.5 template. The 8965 labels said to use Avery template 8931 or 5931, which means that obviously PS 3.5 Labels are not either one of those templates. My question: Which Avery template do I use to print out my PS 3.5 Labels (I can't seem to find this information anywhere in the PS 3.5 software)? My secondary question: Why does the PS 3.5 templates say to use Avery 8965 when my 8965 paper stock doesn't work with the 3.5 templates? Sincerely (and very confused) FrankS

How do you mean? The print is off by 2 mm or it's not anywhere close? It is impossible to print EXACTLY to the peel-off edge. This is where you need to design with a safety zone and background bleed. i.e. keep all your text well within the boundaries, and if you have background color/pattern, extend it past the boundaries so there's no chance for white edges to remain.

You may want to try avery.com for their online print and design service which adds bleed to their templates. (It's free. It creates a PDF which you can print at home.)

Several Avery stock numbers can use the exact same template. The reason the stock numbers may differ can be to differentiate matte from glossy, for example. However, the physical size and position of the labels is exactly the same.

It's not anywhere close. It's off by at least an inch on the sides. It's about right on the top and bottom. The thing is, and I don't know if this means anything, but on the Avery 8965 paper it says Avery 8692. Shouldn't it say 8965? Could they have put the wrong paper stock in the box? Seems unlikely, but at this stage I'm at my wits end with PS 3.5. I have had nothing but trouble with PS 3.5 CD/DVD Labels. Never had a problem with PS 15, but 3.5 has been a nightmare.

You've mentioned a few different stock numbers, but without having samples of those label papers in front of me, I can't tell if the positioning is the same or not. However, it seems fair to say that you have a mismatch.

I suggest you go to avery.com and use their online software for the product number that you actually have.

This is a Print Shop template. It looks centered. So are you saying it should print one inch over to the right or the left? If so, you can select all and move the group over.

Here is the template for 8692 that I made at Avery. The positioning is definitely different.

Conclusion: If your label stock is 8692, then you must use a 8692 template which you can find at Avery.com.

Print Shop does not have a 8692 template, although you can alter the existing one to match by repositioning all to the left so that the center of the round label is at the 4.25" mark.
