EPS file - 3/31/2017 5:35:10 PM    bemisup1   Posts: 1 Joined: 3/31/2017 Status: offline I am having trouble getting my greeting cards printed at my digital press store. He says my logo and the fonts are bitmap images which doesn't give me the best quality needed for a greeting card. I had imported the JPEG image of my logo. How did it end up as bitmap? I used the logos from Printshop, how did they end up as bitmap? My printer said EPS is the best, but I can't figure out how to import it. How can I import my logo EPS file..can I do this? Post #: 1

RE: EPS file - 4/1/2017 1:32:08 AM    ellengard Posts: 3253 Joined: 10/2/2006 Status: offline What your professional printer is trying to tell you, is "Give me a vector image. JPEG is not vector. JPEG is bitmap/ raster." There are essentially two types of images: 1. raster (made up of pixels - bitmap and JPEG are raster) 2. vector (defined by mathematical equations - they can be rescaled with no distortion/ pixelation) Print Shop is a raster image program. It cannot produce vector files, which is why it can't create EPS format. To create your logo as a vector graphic and your text as curves (vector), you need a vector drawing program. An example is Corel Draw or Adobe Illustrator. If you do not wish to hire a professional logo designer who would create a vector image for you, then the best you can do with The Print Shop is to create the highest resolution bitmap image you can. Design your logo full page on 8.5 x 11. Save as JPEG at 300 dpi. The result should be around 3000 pixels by 2400 pixels. When saved as best quality, highest resolution JPEG, it will print sharp on any document that's smaller than a letter size page. However, JPEG can't have transparent background. Vector logos can be printed as small as a postage stamp or as big as a billboard, and the print is ultra-sharp with no distortion, no pixelation. (in reply to bemisup1) Post #: 3
