Older versions had separate event files and the calendar file simply selected the event to use in the calendar. Changes to an event in an event file was reflected in all calendars using that event file. This was a nice feature that is no longer in the newer versions like 12.2.

However, there is a work around. Events are now stored along with the calendar .bcc file. You have probably imported events like the U.S. Holidays. Those event files you are importing are really just .bcc files having only one event file in it. They can be found in a folder on your hard drive. Mine is in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Calendar Creator 12.2\Template\Events". You can use windows explorer to access this folder and then click on any .bcc file (Like US holidays.bcc) to open it. I added Parents day and grandparents day to that US holidays.bcc calendar. I also clicked Categories in the Events menu and used Event properties to change how they appear. I made all mine appear in a Red Banner. Then save that calendar.

To create your own "Event calendars" that can be imported into other calendars, just open any of these and rename via Save As, then delete the event category in that calendar and add your own category giving it a unique name. I created event calendars and started all of them with "Event xxx" and saved them in this Events folder. So now when I import events all those Event xxx files I created appear in that list ready to import.

If a single event needs changed, I make the change once in the Event xxx .bcc file and save it. To get that change into my calendars, I open any calendar that had that event xxx imported and go to the Event / Categories and delete the category that was imported. Then you can import that same Event / category again. Now do a save. Your changes will be reflected in this calendar. Not as nice as the older versions, but it works.

Hal,

Thank you for this useful tip. It sounds like a practical way to handle your own personal events that can be used in multiple calendars.

I'll add a suggestion to back up these event calendars, just as you should be backing up all your own calendars, in case you move to a new version of Calendar Creator or move to a different computer.
