Memory issues with PS4.0 and Win 10 - 12/3/2015 10:53:45 PM    KelleyAngler   Posts: 3 Joined: 12/3/2015 Status: offline When we try to open the image editor we get not enough memory errors. It happens on two different computers. This computer has 16G of memory. Is there a fix for this. I have tried the settings button on advanced and changing the button to allow Max memory and have the same issue. The images are large 4Megs but I tried with smaller images and get the same result. I get similar crashes in other photo-editing programs, even Adobe Photo Shop. To avoid this problem, I use resampled copies of the photos I want to add on a single page. Using Windows Live Photo Gallery for its easy-to-use Resize and Crop tools, this is what I do: I crop first, so I'm only working with the part of the photo I want. Then I resample down to a max width of 3000 pixels for a photo that I want to print 10 inches wide. For photos that I want to print much smaller, I resample down to a max of 1500 pixels wide. That's good for printing up to 5 inches wide. These resampled images are what I bring into The Print Shop. Do not use this Crop feature if the purpose is to reduce file size. (in reply to KelleyAngler) Post #: 4

The work around right now is to use print shop 22 on an old computer, it handles the pictures just fine. If you are going to upgrade the software like I did you would think that you would not have to diminish your pictures to make the newer version work. The software should support the newer technology pictures, the same way the older PS22 version does.. I am only hoping the developers will look into this and put out a patch, 4.0 looks like it has great potential an seems to run well on windows 10, but potential means it is not there yet. Thank you for your reply I will keep an eye out for any updates to make this work otherwise we will just keep the old computer running and use print shop 22 on vista. With the newer cameras, the high res images they capture can be printed at 11x14. Most often though, I'm printing a collage of photos on 8.5x11, where the individual images are smaller than 4x6. The print quality at this size is the same whether the original large files are used or my resampled ones. For me, I get nervous working with exceptionally large files, especially when they don't have to be. My computer really slows down and there's the risk of a corrupted save and losing the entire project. Me, too. I still keep my WinXP around for my older programs. However, with its meager 2GB RAM, I edit my photos down to 300dpi at the size I want to print. Otherwise a computer crash is inevitable. The images are way too high in file size. Here is an excellent program for resizing images that has worked very well for me and you can do the resizing in batches too.
