Thanks for writing Ellengard. I'm using Windows 7 64 bit. Yes, every time I open Address Book I uncheck the welcome screen, and uncheck the tips screen. The program just won't take no for an answer. Now the interesting thing is: My Windows profile must have been corrupted in some way since several of my programs (eg Nuance Paper Port Professional and Dragon Nat Speaking,) were acting strangely. In a new Windows profile they now act fine. Address Book, which I have used since Parson's Technology days, however worked correctly in the old profile. I use it so frequently I keep an icon on my taskbar. On the old profile when I open Address Book it opens to my last saved file, with the settings (column order and sort order.) On the new profile however it always opens with the welcome screen and has me search for the file. When I open it all the data is there but it always opens to the program defaults, not to my settings. In order to find anything I've got to re-establish my settings each time I open it. Granted that's only once a day, but it's still bothersome. Can you think of any way to have the program follow my instructions? Paul
