How do you use mail address book and mail merge with print shop 3.5 ( not the deluxe) to print mailing labels? The program help button takes me to information on 3.0 mail merge which is not applicable to 3.5. Tech support assures me I cam mail merge for mailing labels, but told me to come to this forum for help on how to do it. Thanks in advance for you assistance.

You can check out my tutorial on my website. The mail merge tutorial is halfway down the page.

I'm sorry but this information doesn't fulfill my needs. I created a label and want to mail merge it with my address book. I go thru the prompts. Save the info. Go to print preview and it takes me back to the screen that wants to know if I want to mail merge. I do everything again. Go to print preview and the same thing happens. I[m not sure what I'm doing incorrectly, but I've been working for two days and need help.

Now that you are finished doing the Print Preview, go back to your label project. Make sure you are no longer selecting the text box with your mail merge fields (you inserted them already, yes?) Go to Print. Not Print Preview.

If doing a print preview does not show you a print preview, then I think you skipped one of these crucial steps.

  1. Create your Print Shop 3.5 Address Book through the Sharing Tab.
  2. Select contacts from the Address Book through the Setup Mail Merge icon in the Home Tab.

Sorry, Ellen, I'm still having a problem. I create the label. I choose Setup Mail Merge. A small screen (The PrintShop 3.5 or 3.0 Configuration) appears that says Choose a file to import and click import. I don't know what file to import. I've keyed in address book. That hasn't worked.

The Mail Merge Configuration screen is not showing my contacts. So it appears that I'm not accessing the address book. Lots of frustration at this end.

Yes, we need to figure out why. First, let's make sure the Address Book opens by doing this:

  • click the Sharing tab
  • click the Address Book icon

This opens the Print Shop 3.5 Address Book. Do you see contact names in it or is the book empty?

OK. Now add your text box and click Insert Address Block. Then click Setup Mail Merge.

Can you provide a screen capture, please? One that shows your label project in the background and this window that appears after you click the Setup Mail Merge button.

I don't know how to Screen Capture. I created the project, a label. Added the Home Address Field. Clicked on Setup Mail Merge. What my screen was showing was the label first, on top of that the Mail Merge Configuration Screen (without any names). On top of that T he Print Shop 3.5 or 3.0 Contact screen. If you can give me directions on how to Screen Capture and send it to you, I will be glad to do that.

Here is what your screen capture should look like i.e. label with text box containing mail merge fields, Address book opened after clicking Setup Mail Merge.

To do a screen capture, press PrtScn key, paste into MS Paint. There is a limit of 200KB to upload a JPG here, so you will have to crop, resize or resample to get the file size below 200 KB.

I was able to do a screen capture per your request and directions. But I don't know how to crop, resize, or resample to get the file below 200 KB. Do I need to download a program? I do appreciate all your help. Am waiting for this next step.

You can crop and resize in MS Paint. Do a crop first - no point including unimportant parts of the screen. If the size is still over 200 KB, try resizing to 85%.

I'm not sure how to get a fle that I can send to you. I have WORD 2007. I used Accessories, then Paint. I cropped (I think) and resized then saved. It saved with a png suffix. When I tried sending it to you, it said that a png file couldn't be sent. I think I need 1, 2, 3 instructions. I've been shuffling screens back and forth guessing most times. Sometimes I seem to have a little success. I'm not good at "surfing" and don't have experience with this part of the program. All I wanted to do was create an address book and print labels for my Christmas cards.

I've used an old Printmaster program for decades, but the new computers won't access it. It had an address book similar to PrintShop Deluxe 3.5. This 3.5 is coming up with screens that don't appear in any of the lessons. I'm really stuck.

When you click Reply, the Reply to Message box opens and you will see "Click here to upload!" Click that and you will be prompted to browse to where you stored your screen capture. Also, put a check by the "Embed picture in post".

However, before you do this, open your screen capture in MS Paint and save as JPG because PNG is not one of the file formats accepted on this forum.
