Hi, I don't know if this forum is monitored, doubt so, but let's try. I'm desperate...

Casino Empire is one of my childhood favorite games, i had it installed in all my PCs since I was 13 or so. But few days ago I bought a pc with W8 and the game has some kind of visual glitch after the 2 intros, image is "crushed" at the left of the screen and with a glitchy green/purple color.

I tried EVERY possible compatibility option (run as admin, every tickable option and all the comp modes). Also tried DosBox but it doesn't support this game apparently. Now im trying a program wrapper to make the game run in a window, without luck for now.

Would be immensely grateful if some staff could tell me how to fix this.

Thanks!

This game is really horrible on Windows 8.

Windows 8 removed a lot of components needed to run this game properly. If you are technically savvy, and have used Linux before , I would install Ubuntu and run Hoyle Casino Empire under the Windows Emulator "Wine" as it has a Platinum rating for compatibility.

That's what I like about Ubuntu (Linux) is that many of my older Encore Windows games run perfectly under Wine and not have any glitches. Before installing Ubuntu, you will want to read online about having Windows 8 and Linux side by side as the boot configuration is not perfect and may corrupt your system if you are not careful.

Hi, TMLFAN4LIFE. Thanks for your response, but I'm absolutely useless when it comes to computers !
I tried everything to make CE run on w8 but nothing works... and since it's a fairly underplayed and unknown game, nobody made a 'fanpatch' or something like that unfortunately. I think I will have to go back to w7, where Casino empire worked well.

Anyways, if some kind of patch or fix to use it on w8 appears I would be super grateful if someone post it here. I'l be checking this forum from time to time.

Thank you anyways and have a nice day

Well, after a couple days investigating how to run Casino Empire in windows 8 I finally got the solution, thanks to "gho" from sourceforge and his program DxWnd.

Here's the topic with the fix, hope it can help someone like me who tried to fix a game which nobody plays anymore and its SUPER-HARD to find any related help or info.

https://sourceforge.net/p/dxwnd/discussion/general/thread/1173fae9/

Cheers

I'm very happy that you got the game working. That sounds like a good suggestion. Therefore I am pinning our conversation and locking this thread so if we get any customers that come on the forums for Hoyle Casino Empire on Windows 8, it might help them. Thanks again for checking back in with us. I appreciate it.
