The "Error 1305. Error reading from file" error message may occur if one of the following conditions is true:
• There is a configuration issue with the CD-ROM drive.
• The MDAC (Microsoft Data Access Components) is damaged or is not installed properly.
• There is an issue with the CD-ROM media. For example, the program CD-ROM is damaged or dirty.

Even though that Microsoft FAQ is specifically for installing Windows, the Error 1305 problem can occur during any installation of any program. And, Microsoft's recommended methods for resolving the Error 1305 problem should work equally well for any occasion when the Error 1305 problem is encountered.
