Hi,
I have the Printshop Deluxe version 22 and when I try to get into the address book there is a little box that pops up and says "can't find registry key." I have registered the product but have no idea why it won't work. I have only had it for about 2-3 months so it is relatively new and just now am trying to get things set up. Any idea what I should do or how to fix it? Same thing happens when I try to get into event reminder also.

Hi Jill,

For Broderbund programs, the only time a registry key error message is normally encountered is when Microsoft® .NET Framework 1.1 is not properly installed. However, the registry key error message is not normally encountered when trying to open the Address Book. So, your problem might not be specifically related to Microsoft® .NET Framework 1.1.

I don't know for a fact that this will solve your problem, but it certainly couldn't hurt to do a thorough uninstall of Print Shop 22, as described in this FAQ

Uninstalling Software: Thoroughly & Safely

then do a thorough computer cleanup, as described in this FAQ

Computer Cleanup on WinXP, WinVista & Win7

then do a 'clean' reinstall of Print Shop 22, as described in this FAQ

'Clean' Install on Win98/Me/XP/2000/Vista/Win7

Then, please post back here and let me know if this problem is solved.

Thank you Thank you Thank you. It worked! I also got a lot of items cleaned up on the computer. I did not know that you had to run the WinDoc for the registry cleanup more than once and restart between them. I had to restart 3 times. It still came with 13 missing program fils and so those couldn't get fixed, but the many many other ones did. I have learned something new and I really appreciate it. One more question for you. How often should a person do a thorough cleanup?

You are Very Welcome, Jill,

And, Thank You Very Much for letting me know that my suggestions worked for you. Since another user reported experiencing the same "can't find registry key" problem, it is especially nice to know that my suggestions will work for that problem.

I ALWAYS run a registry checker after I install or uninstall software. And, I always restart the computer (to reset the registry) before running the registry checker.

As for the computer cleanup, I usually do steps 1 thru 5 once a week. For Steps 6 & 7, I usually do them every month or two.
