PM Plat 16: Cannot type in table cells

I have Platinum 16 and cannot use Tables. I can form the table ok but then cannot type in the cells.

Double-click inside a cell and start typing. The default size is 3 (too small), so I click and drag to select all the cells, then change the font size to 12 or higher.
