LarryB -> Using PM7 in network (3/15/2011 9:27:44 AM)

I use PM7 at work on an XP Pro workstation. We are getting a new computer network system this week with the workstations being Windows7 and the server MS Server 2008. I was wondering about 2 things...

1. Can I continue to use PM7 on Windows 7 and will the directory hierarchy be similar to XP? If not, what would the minimum required version be and will my project files transfer over to it from PM7.

2. Can I instruct PM7 to save the project files on the server instead of my local workstation (for the daily backups).

Thank you !!! Lar

Hi LarryB,

If you are using a home-use version of PrintMaster 7, you will definitely want to check the End User License Agreement in your PrintMaster 7 Help | Legals, where you will see that it says this:

"YOU MAY NOT:

*Use the Program or permit use of the Program on more than one computer, computer terminal or workstation at the same time.

*Use the Program in a network or other multi-user arrangement or on an electronic bulletin board system or other remote access arrangement, or store it in a retrieval system or translate it into any other language."

As a matter of fact, all home-use versions of all PrintMaster and Print Shop programs prohibit the use of those programs on a network.

However, if you are actually using a network version of PrintMaster 7, you would need to click on the link below

http://forums.encoreusa.com/tm.asp?m=39689&mpage=1&key=

to access contact information for network versions of Broderbund software.

If your new computer is running a 64-bit version of Windows 7, you will want to click on the link below

http://forums.encoreusa.com/tm.asp?m=38864

to see that it is not possible to install PrintMaster 7 on a 64-bit version of Windows 7.

I have confirmed that only Prinmaster 11 and newer versions of PrintMaster can be installed on a 64-bit version of PrintMaster.

And, if you will click on the link below

http://forums.encoreusa.com/tm.asp?m=38899&mpage=1&key=

you will see that if you were to decide to purchase a newer version of PrintMaster, you should be able to open your PrintMaster 7 files in any newer version of PrintMaster EXCEPT PrintMaster 2.0 or PrintMaster 2011.
