After selecting the page orientation options for a new project (brochure, 3-fold, landscape orientation), then saving the project (work in progress), the orientation changes on re-opening (to portrait). How does it possible to return to the original choices or what needs to be done before saving to maintain the original choices?

Do you have the 3.0.5 update? See here for download link:

I just verified that 3.0.5 does not have this buggy behavior. I suspect you have version 3.0.3?
