The program may have been corrupted. An uninstall and a reinstall may fix this issue. Also these errors indicate problems with your hard drive. It's suggested to scan your disks for errors.

If you have been using the program for awhile, be sure to backup your projects in the Documents folder before uninstalling and reinstalling the program.

You also did not mention if you were using PM 18 or 18.1 and the operating system you are using. This is important information needed too.

I am relaying this information which comes from Customer Service/ Tech Support:
(This is how to scan your disks for errors, the advice TMLFAN4LIFE posted above.)

To resolve this issue, check your hard disk for errors. To do so, follow these
steps.

Check your hard disk for errors

Use the Windows Check Disk utility to check your hard drive for errors.
Open a command prompt.
For Windows Vista and for Windows 7, click Start, type cmd in the Start Search
box, and then press ENTER.
Note If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type
the password, or click Allow.
For Windows XP, click Start, click Run, type cmd, and then click OK.

At the command prompt, type chkdsk /f, and then press ENTER.

Note If you receive a message similar to the following
The type of the file system is NTFS. Cannot lock current drive.

Chkdsk cannot run because the volume is in use by another process. Would you
like to schedule this volume to be checked the next time the system restarts?
(Y/N)
press Y, press ENTER, and then restart your computer.
When Chkdsk finishes, close the command prompt.
Start the program.
