It's been awhile since I've used PM 18, but I just tried it now and no ad came up. Could be because I have an ad blocking app running. I do get promos from Broderbund in my email, but not when I open the program, so you can try seeing if an ad blocking app will solve this for you.
PM 18 is a very old program. Future Win 10 updates will eventually make the program inoperable.
Another thought: What if you say YES to the update, but cancel out of actually purchasing it. Perhaps then, the ad won't appear again.
