Hi, I am trying to export a 3d home architect file into auto cad so that I can then import it into another program (lightscape). But when I do this it only opens as a 2d floor plan is there anyway I can export it so that it opens as a complete 3d home in Auto cad.

I am using 3D Home Architect Deluxe 4.

Thanks

Hi Harro,

Since 3D Home Architect Deluxe 4 is such an old program, and since I do not have access to that program at this time, I am not able to see for myself how the export process works.

According to Broderbund's support site for 3D Home Architect Deluxe 4, the only option for exporting a plan view for use in CAD Programs is the drawing exchange format (.DXF), and layers in exported .DXF files are often unavailable in CAD Programs.

The only '3D export' reference I could find in Broderbund's support site for 3D Home Architect Deluxe 4 was an option for exporting a 3D Image as a .BMP File. But, I'm pretty sure that's not going to meet your needs.

So, if exporting your 3D Home Architect Deluxe 4 to *.DXF does not provide the desired results, I'm afraid there are no other options available from within 3D Home Architect version 4.0.

I have, however, recently learned that Better Homes and Gardens Home Designer will open plans created with 3D Home Architect version 3.0 and 4.0.

for more information about that.

IF you can actually open the 3D Home Architect version 4.0 file in Better Homes and Gardens Home Designer, you won't need to do an export. And, hopefully, you will be able to open the file as a complete 3d home which can be converted to a format that will successfully import into another program.
