Palm™ Organizer Troubleshooting

Solution

Calendar Creator™ 12 Deluxe works with all versions of the Palm™ Organizer.

If you are experiencing difficulties syncing Calendar Creator™ 12 Deluxe with Palm™ Organizer together, troubleshooting a few basic possibilities can help to identify the source of the issue.

Check for HotSync Manager Icon

After performing a hotsync with the Palm™ Organizer, no data appears in Calendar Creator™ or in desktop software.

When completing a hotsync with the Palm™ Organizer, verify that the HotSync Manager icon is visible on the taskbar. The HotSync Manager is what actually syncs the Palm™ Organizer with the desktop software and other applications.

NOTE: If the HotSync Manager icon is not present, click Start, choose All Programs, select Palm Desktop and choose HotSync Manager. The icon should appear.

Verify the Correct Version of the HotSync Manager

Close programs and all windows to return to the desktop.

Locate the HotSync Manager icon (red and blue arrows that form a circle) on the taskbar, typically located in the lower-right corner of the screen.

Click the HotSync Manager icon once and choose About…from the menu. The About HotSync Manager window will open.

Verify that the HotSync Manager version is 4.1 or higher.

NOTE: If the HotSync Manager version is not 4.1 or higher, click here Palm Support for update information.

If the correct version of the HotSync Manager is installed, continue with the following.

Failure to Import Data into Calendar Creator™

After a hotsync, the data is updated on the desktop software but not in Calendar Creator™.

Right-click the HotSync Manager icon on the taskbar.

Click Custom. The Custom window will open. The Calendar Creator™ address and Calendar Creator™ events should appear with the word "synchronize" to the right of each entry.

If anything other than synchronize is showing, complete the following:

* Highlight the Calendar Creator™ Address listing

* Click Change.

* Click Synchronize.

* Repeat the above steps for the Calendar Creator™ Events listing.

Calendar Creator™ Is Not in the Custom Window

After opening a custom window from the HotSync Manager, Calendar Creator™ does not show up in the window. It is possible that during the installation of either Calendar Creator™ or Palm™ Organizer, one of the following steps was missed:

During the installation of Calendar Creator™, the option to install the support for the Palm™ Organizer is presented. This option must be checked if the Palm™ Organizer is to be used with Calendar Creator™.

During the installation of the desktop software, the choice of using third party conduits is presented. This option must be checked in order to use Calendar Creator™.

NOTE: Failing to check either of these steps during the installation process can prevent the programs from syncing.

Data Is Not Showing in Calendar, but Does Show in the Desktop Software

For a calendar to synch with the PalmPilot™, the calendar must first be saved and then associated with Palm™ Organizer.

To accomplish this, follow these steps:

* Save the calendar that will be synced with Palm™ Organizer.

* Click File.

* Click Create Palm Association.

* Follow the onscreen prompts.

* Close the calendar and complete a "HotSync" with Palm™ Organizer.
