If your Print Shop locks up while trying to generate a preview during an import process, the most likely cause of the problem is one of the background programs which loads from MSConfig | Startup every time your computer is started.
One program which has been proven to cause this problem is 'Biometric Fingerprinting Services by DigitalPersona, Inc.'
The recommended solution for solving the problem is to click on the link below
then, follow the directions in that FAQ for disabling ALL background programs in MSConfig | Startup.
Allow the computer to restart, then try the program again.
If the problem no longer occurs, that would definitely indicate that a background program is causing the problem.
Unfortunately, the only way to determine exactly which background program is causing the problem is to go back to MSConfig | Startup, enable ONLY ONE program, allow the computer to restart, then try the program again.
Of course, if you find that 'Biometric Fingerprinting Services by DigitalPersona, Inc.' is selected in your MSConfig | Startup folder, you'll definitely want to start with that program.
Repeat the process, enabling ONLY ONE program at a time, until you find the background program that causes the problem to occur. Then, make a note to yourself to NEVER allow that program to be enabled in MSConfig | Startup.
