Problem Error: Oregon Trail 5 cannot locate "Oregon5.dat" Make Sure the Oregon Trail 5 CD is in the CD-ROM Drive Solution 1. Click on the link below http://support.encoreusa.com/download.asp?id=155 to download the OREGON5.zip (Save the file to your desktop 2. Double Click on 'My Computer' ['Computer' on Windows Vista & Windows 7] 3. Double Click on C:\ If this folder says 'These files are hidden', Click on 'Show the contents of this folder.' 4. Double Click on 'Program Files' ['Program Files (x86)' for a 64-bit version of Vista & Windows 7] If this folder says 'These files are hidden' Click on 'Show the contents of this folder.' 5. Double Click on 'The Learning Company' 6. Double Click on 'Oregon Trail 5' 7. Drag the OREGON5.zip file that you downloaded to your desktop in Step 1 from your desktop, then drop it into the Oregon Trail 5 folder you just opened 8. Right Click on 'OREGON5.zip' 9. Left click on 'Extract All' The 'Compressed Folders Extraction Wizard' Should Appear. 10. Click on 'Next' 11. Find the area on this page that says "Files will be extracted to this directory:" In the box, DELETE the very last part that says '\OREGON5' 12. Click on 'Next' A 'Confirm File Replace' window will appear. Click on 'Yes'. 13. Uncheck the box "Show Extracted Files." 14. Click on 'Finish'. 15. Close all open windows, then attempt to run Oregon Trail 5.
