I am creating a project where I have a background on the entire page. Then I want to place some text on the center of the page, then place a boarder around the text. But I want the background of the boarder to be white, so I can bring the text to the front and the text will be on a white background, surrounded by the boarder, and the image which is the background of the whole page will be visible anywhere the boarder and text does not cover. I do not want the page background to be visible inside the boarder. I hope that makes sense. When I try to edit the boarder image, I cannot figure out how to make the board have white inside the boarder. I am using 3.5 professional.

Add a shape with white fill. Apply a border to it. Put your text box over top of it.

Although it is possible to double-click inside the shape and type your text directly into the shape, I find that if you want to edit the text later on, it's not as easy as editing text in a true text box.

Thanks so much for your reply. I tried what you said. Here is what it looks like: (I hope the image embedded like I tried to make it do)
I do get the white background behind the text, but the white also extends beyond the edges of the boarder, which I don't like. I really want the white background to be limited to the inside of the boarder only. Is there a way to easily do that?

There is no shape that fits the border that you chose. The easiest thing to do is choose a rectangular border.

I was thinking that I would have to use Photo Shop to create a PNG, but then I came up with this:

Open a new sign project, portrait orientation.
Add your fancy border.
Resize it so that it fills most of the page.
Save as highest quality JPG.
Import the JPG to your project.
Take it into the Image Editor.
Go to Effects.
Click Magic Wand.
Click the outer white edges to select them.
Click the Transparent icon.
Save.
