I am printing and saving projects. I am getting messages like application is low on memory and image editor unable to acquire memory. It is very frustrating to work on a project and not be able to print it or even to save it. Anyone know what I am suppose to do? I just purchased Printshop Deluxe 3.5 and my computer is new Windows 8.1.

This depends on the images and the amount of content you are working with. Are you using very high resolution images in your projects and lots of content?

What kind of project are you trying to create?

This can happen when the project reaches a certain complexity. This can be due to a large amount of content and having many special effects applied, especially when there are multiple pages.

If your printer is having trouble processing a complex project, here is how to simplify it. Save as best quality JPG. Then print the JPG.

If you are designing a very complex project, do it in parts. Design your graphics in one project. Save it (for future editing) and also save as JPG. Then open a new project, import the JPG and finish your project with text and whatever else.

Thanks for responding. I am printing a one page photo collage with 9 pictures, one headline, and 5 text boxes. It seems too basic of a project to run out of memory after four pictures. I did end up saving the1 page project in 2 different pages and then combining. I just didn't think I should have to do that for a 1 page project. Should I delete imported pictures after using to help with this memory issue?

If each photo is over 3MB, that could cause a problem. The latest digital cameras capture pictures at a size for 11x14 printing - ridiculous overkill for most purposes.

No, that makes no difference. The memory issue is only affected by the opened projects, not by what's in your photo gallery.

I tried deleting pictures I had imported but not yet added to my project. I had about 30 or so. That worked!!! Now, I import pictures and after I add to my project, I delete them. I am surprised that the gallery pictures were the problem. I am grateful for feedback and am happy I know how to make my projects without fear of overloading memory.

Thank you for your feedback. I'm glad you got it to work by clearing out your photo gallery. I'll check this out by importing a dozen large photos and see if it affects the memory.

I imported over 300 MB of high resolution images to the photo gallery and was able to complete a 2 page newsletter with no problems.

So having a "full" photo gallery did not affect memory performance in my case.

Then I started a new project and started adding high resolution images. After I added the fifth image, I got a memory error message. I was not surprised because each image I added was about 20 MB.

I can't explain why clearing out your photo gallery worked for you, but I'm glad it did. The size of my photo gallery has no effect on my project. The amount of content in my project absolutely did use up the Image Editor memory resources.
