I'm unclear about what's meant by a dedicated picture area? Text boxes aren't confined to a date cell's area, so I'm sure you have something else in mind. If you happen to have a picture in a date cell, right-click in that cell, select Properties, open the Picture tab and choose No Picture. That will remove the picture.
